running late and a poll

Punctuality eludes me sometimes. I try but perhaps I relegate to the African in me and go lax on the timeliness. Please don’t misunderstand – I’m not saying we lack discipline. Africans can have a more fluid sense of time and we don’t rush. We savour moments and we understand things come up. It helps that we are infinitely patient so we don’t mind waiting within reason.

For me, getting ready in the morning is a race and every minute counts! Over the years, I’ve been able to shave precious seconds, minutes off my makeup routine so that, provided everything is in its place, I can move like an automaton and ‘put on my face’ in 10 minutes flat. Most days it takes longer – shock on you, no, it’s not the eyeliner, that I can wing with one eye closed (ha!) . . . . . instead, blame my indecisiveness on what the makeup-of-the-day should be. You know, so many options yet nothing to wear?

But I want to know about you.

How long does it take you to put on your every day makeup?

And what is your go to look when you’re in a rush?
Leave a comment, I’d love to know 🙂

  1. I answered your poll question and enjoyed reading your post. I will share my routine. If I’m covering blemishes, my routine involves lots of moisturiser first. My skin is very sensitive and prone to dryness. I have the same routine in the morning, which is my favourite organic foundation (100% Pure in toffee) mixed with a drop of gac oil, layered with concealer and L’Oreal/Project Runway eye shadow in deep brown, lined with Maybelline continuous cocoa cream eyeshadow or Estee Lauder’s cream liner in jet black; three coats of colossal super volume express mascara, otherwise I can’t see. I usually don’t need to adjust during the day (and I don’t normally have time). By the end of the day, my eyes are great for an evening look.
