Happy 2015 to you!
This post took a lot of wind up to write. A lot of umm and ahhh to get the ball rolling.
For those of you who have been following mGm, firstly, thank you so much for the loyalty; secondly, pardon the tardiness, I have not written for over two months.
It hasn’t been from lack of things to say – if you’ve met me in person, you know I never shut up. It’s been a few things here and there that have collectively waylaid all efforts and abilities to devote any time to the blog.
You see, Mr Meow and I went to Japan in October (so much fun by the way!). And while this wasn’t by any means unplanned, I came back with a cosmetries haul that was/is a tad overwhelming to write about.
Then, just when I thought I had it all catalogued, Mr Meow had a nasty crash in mid-November leaving me at my wit’s end. He is fine now and recovering well but it was a scary first few days and a challenging next month.
Did I mention I also moved house? That was HARD. Poor Mr Meow was incapacitated to help what with several broken bones and torn ligament. Now, I consider myself fairly strong. But even (all of) my 5’3″ wingspan couldn’t grapple some of the moving boxes. Gawd, it was so bloody hard. I don’t think there is anyone in the world that enjoys moving.
So here we are, unpacked, many many moons later and if you’re like me, if you haven’t written for a while, it is easier to be lazy and avoid writing than to get up off your ass and string together some sentences and take some pictures. Enter a little spark of inspiration – via a new camera purchase – and I’m feeling the creative juices flowing again. It’ll be a while before I figure out how to use the damned thing properly, but you can expect better photos on mGm soon. In the interest of full disclosure, I should mention the lighting in the new apartment is awful. Shadows everywhere!
2014 wasn’t an awful year but I am an eternal optimist and I am looking forward to happier times in 2015. Long sunny days of summer make me feel like the world is my oyster and I can do those 100 things I set out to come January 1 – learn a new language, travel somewhere new, be kinder, run a marathon, save more, relax and take a few more risks. Call them resolutions. I prefer a word little less committal, like, ‘things’.
I’m not so naive to think I will achieve all those ‘things’. What is important though, is that I keep trying, even if I fall off the wagon. You know, fall seven times, stand up eight; aim for the moon, even if you miss, you’ll hit a few stars, blah blah blah
Do you have any ‘things’ you’re working on this year? Anything you’re holding close and taking with you from 2014?
Come say hello.
