foundation woes & a poll

There are millions of formulations, shades, textures and finishes out there. So why is it so difficult to find a foundation that is just right?
So far, many have come close. But the stars are yet to align for me. . .

Full post here. In the meantime, I’d love to hear from you.

foundation woes & a poll

  1. Yes! I’ve tried so many foundations that have not been right for me (shimmery Clinique, drying Chanel powder, etc). I’m currently on the hunt for an alternative to my BB cream that provides a little more coverage.
I’m looking for something moisturising and natural looking (no shimmer), that also photographs well. Planning to get some samples from Mac, Estee Lauder, Benefit and Bobbi Brown but if anyone has some suggestions please let me know 🙂

    1. Thanks Jess – let me know how you go with the samples.
I’ve got a couple of tips on keeping full coverage foundation looking natural and also keeping your skin moisturised. I’m working on the post and will have it up soon.
Meanwhile, I’m curious to hear anyone else’s thoughts/ questions/ tips.

I’m currently using a liquid foundation by Shu Uemura, it’s full coverage. I only use half a pump each time though as I only wanted a light coverage but something more than a BB or CC cream. This foundation sits very well on my skin and it last from 8am till 5pm, which is convenient as I don’t need to re-apply during the day. I’ve used Luminous by Giorgio Armani, but that was a while ago now. So I can’t really remember how much I liked it. But I think after I finish my Shu Uemura bottle, I’ll replace it with the Armani one, just to try something different.

Hope this helps. But yeah, I don’t like to be seen with caked on foundation during the day for work, but I do need something that would cover up spots/freckles on my face. But BB & CC creams are too light. So I resorted to full coverage foundation (which I’ve always disagreed to in the past, as I believe it clogs up your skin) but wear waaaay less. Hope this helps. Let me know if you find something suitable.

    1. Thanks for sharing this BB. I will pop Shu Uemura on the radar.
Many girls are looking for something more than a BB/CC cream. I personally don’t care much for them as I can’t find one in the right shade.
I’m trialling a couple of different foundations so watch this space for a follow up post that will hopefully address your concerns.
